Video: ‘Top Gun 2’ Needs ‘Ghost Goose’ Says Anthony Edwards

His character Goose died in the first Top Gun, but that did not stop Anthony Edwards from lobbying for a chance to appear in the sequel as “Ghost Goose.”

Filmed in 2017, the funny video in this post shows Anthony Edwards asking for a role in the upcoming Top Gun Sequel movie.

Top Gun Sequel starring Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer will also feature 31 year old Teller playing the role of Goose’s son, Bradley Bradshaw who is the protege to Maverick in the sequel.

Nicholas Hoult, Glen Powell and Miles Teller were the frontrunners for the role in Top Gun 2.

Noteworthy Goose (Maverick’s Radar Intercept Officer, RIO) provided an emotional spine to Top Gun when he is killed by accident and Maverick blames himself.

The original featured Goose’s son as a young boy, with Meg Ryan playing his mother.

Producers — who included Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and Skydance’s David Ellison — tested several actors for the role, winnowed the list down to Hoult, Powell and Teller. Dylan O’Brien and Austin Butler were among those in the mix in a previous stage.

As already reported, on Feb. 14, 2019 F-14A Tomcat BuNo 159631 was lifted aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) aircraft carrier (quite a cool sight considering the fact that the iconic Tomcat was retired from active service in 2006) in San Diego for Top Gun: Maverick production.

Besides the F-14 Tomcat, Top Gun: Maverick will likely feature the Navy’s new Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters alongside older Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornets.

The movie was assigned a theatrical release date of Jul. 12, 2019 last year, but on September Paramount announced that had delayed the sequel nearly an entire year, assigning it a new release date of Jun. 26, 2020.

Maverick’s rides for Top Gun sequel will be a cool special painted F/A-18F Super Hornet (which experienced a mid-air issue while it was flying with Tom Cruise on board in September) and a new motorcycle that Tom Cruise already drove around airfield (as he did on a Kawasaki Ninja in the 1986 original) as shown in first pictures from Top Gun: Maverick set.

Tom Cruise teased the start of filming on the long-awaited Top Gun sequel on May 31, 2018 with a tweet featuring an image of an older Capt. Pete Mitchell standing in a flight suit with his famous HGU-33 helmet (that wore to fly his F-14A Tomcat) in hand.
