Hailed as the “Dutch Top Gun,” High Flyers is a high end tv-series filmed in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
The cool video below features the trailer of High Flyers (Hoogvliegers). Hailed as the “Dutch Top Gun,” High Flyers is a high end tv-series filmed in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Air Force and tells the story of Rutger, Guus, and Laila.
We follow them during their years of heavy training to become F-16 Viper fighter pilots in the Royal Netherlands Air Force, and we’re with them when they finally go on a dangerous mission in the Middle East.
We stand close to the characters in their eventful journey to adulthood, we share their camaraderie, their grief, their joy, love, and fear, in times of peace and times of war.
The following clip instead features former F-16 pilot C.W. Lemoine reacting to High Flyers trailers.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force purchased a total of 213 F-16A/B aircraft, F-16.net says. The Netherlands were one of the four European Participating Air Forces, and one of 5 countries to build the F-16 locally. Force reductions saw the fleet reduced to 68 aircraft, all of them upgraded to MLU standard. Some surplus aircraft have been sold to Jordan and Chile.
Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16s are stationed at Leeuwarden and Volkel air bases.
According to the service, the best F-16 pilots from all over Europe receive their Fighter Weapons Instructor Training at Leeuwarden Air Base, during which they learn all about the systems and weapons aboard F-16s, and about tactics. They then pass on this knowledge to other pilots in their units.
I do hope to see this on the big screen but will settle for a streaming service here in the US. Looks very impressive.
