Watch Algerian MiG-25 Foxbats taking part in Joint Air Defense Exercise with NATO Fighters

From time to time, Algerian Foxbats participate in joint exercises with NATO-members.

Brought to my attention by Kheiro Hussein, a reader of The Aviation Geek Club, the interesting photo in this post was taken on Oct. 10, 2010 and shows a French Airbus A310 being intercepted by an Algerian MiG-25PDS during Air Defense Exercise “Circaete 2010.”

The following video instead was filmed during “Circaete 2011” and features Mirage 2000 (France), F-5F (Tunisia) Su-30 and MiG-25 (Algeria) intercepting a French Air Force CASA CN 235 which was supposed to act as hijacked airliner.

“It’s interesting to note that the MiG-25 was forced to pull out its landing gear to be able to stay in formation with the French CASA,” Hussein pointed out.

Noteworthy Spanish Air Force F-18 and Eurofighter aircraft took part in Circaete 2011 too.

As we have recently explained, from time to time, Algerian Foxbats participate in joint exercises with NATO-members.

Having signed contract in 1978, Algeria was the first export customer for MiG-25 Foxbat.

Even though the country’s MiG-25s are meanwhile quite dated, Algerian Air Force’s 120th Squadron is still operational and keeping two MiG-25PDS’ each on alert at Bechar, Tindouf and Ouragla until today.
