The F-22 Raptor is back in the U.K.!

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) in fact has deployed several F-22s, Airmen and associated equipment to Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath, England, for a flying training deployment to conduct air training alongside 48th Fighter Wing (FW) F-15s and with other Europe-based U.S. aircraft and NATO allies.

The aircraft arrived in Europe on Oct. 8, 2017 and are from the 1st FW, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

As explained in the service press release, while in the European theater, the F-22s will also forward deploy from the United Kingdom to other NATO bases to maximize training opportunities, demonstrate the U.S. steadfast commitment to NATO allies and deter any actions that destabilize regional security.

Noteworthy the last F-22 deployment in EUCOM Area of Responsibility took place in spring 2016 when 12 F-22s from the 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB), Fla. arrived at Lakenheath to engage in familiarization training within the European theater.
