The story behind this Cow Kill Mark is quite interesting.
The interesting photo in this post shows the A-10 special painted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 107th Fighter Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base (ANGB) featuring an unusual Cow Kill Mark.
The story behind it is quite interesting.
According to some internet rumors, the pilot of this aircraft said he was performing a Close Air Support (CAS) sortie by means of its GAU- 8/A Avenger 30 Mike Mike Cannon in an enemy village at an undisclosed location. Nicking off bad guys and such. Afterwards, when the ground troops came in to secure and get the final kill count, they found a cow blown to pieces by 30mm freedom hotdogs.
Noteworthy this is not the first time that weird kill marks are applied on an A-10: as we have reported last month in fact another Hog was captured featuring F-22 and F-16 Kill Marks.
In that case it seems that the Warthog (most probably belonging to USAF Air Combat Command A-10 Demo Team) was sporting the marks of aircraft from other demo teams such as F-22 and F-16 fighter jets which usually fly in formation together during airshows across the U.S.
