Saab to deliver first 2 Gripen E fighters to Brazilian and Swedish Air Forces in 2019
An offer to complement the Gripen E test aircraft with an operational Gripen C aircraft for the flight tests in June 2019 has not been accepted by the Swiss defence procurement agency. Saab has announced that the Gripen E fighter will not be heading to Payerne, Switzerland for flight tests this month.

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) explained that the 14 JAS-39C/Ds were included in the Gripen E contract. According to Svenska Dagbladet newspaper the Swedish government paid for 14 Gripen C/D airframes that are unused in order to ensure that the production line at Saab can transition to the Gripen E.
